Mark’s success in hospitality and leisure industry spans the entirety of the hotel spectrum. Mark has headed the brokerage of hotels such as trophy assets and portfolio property sales whilst also having vast experience in the debt re-financing of assets as well as sourcing equity participation for a range of projects from distressed hotels to new developments. Mark has managed to recruit quality individuals to the Company, including high-level corporate directors from the hotels sector as well as MBA Analysts from leading Universities.
Mark understands the needs of the hotels investors, lenders and financiers leveraging this knowledge to the advantage of Soric International’s clients. His skills within this sector have resulted in more than $3 billion worth of hotel transactions and giving him an enviable reputation as one of the industry’s leading experts in this field.
His previous positions include Managing director of Choice Hotels International European Division headquartered in Paris. Here he directed choice’s growth throughout all European markets growing hotel development in 14 countries of Europe with a total portfolio of 550 Hotels. He managed and prospered joint venture relationships with Choice Hotels Europe, Choice Hotels Scandinavia and launched Choice Hotels India.
Mark also developed his understanding of hotel operations during his time with the Doyle Hotel and the Savoy Hotel Group as an executive. Prior to this he was a Professor for Hotel Consult in Switzerland for a period of 2 years in Hotel management.

Giovanna de Barba
Before joining Soric International, Giovanna previously enjoyed a 20-year career in the hospitality sector. From her time within this industry Giovanna has developed key skills and knowledge relating to the lodging market and also
managed to create and build investor rapport with many key contacts. Giovanna has excellent relationships with hotel companies and private owners throughout Italy and Europe. Her comprehensive client base also spreads across the full spectrum of the market from 2-star hotels to 5-star trophy assets. Alex Slors, is a strong leader with over 35 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Practical knowledge of hotel operations as well as corporate environments within prestigious international companies defines the balanced approach to business challenges we are facing today.
Having worked his way up through the ranks in hotels in Europe and Asia, followed by regional roles leading up to Vice President of Finance, Alex has in depth knowledge and practical experience that is invaluable for any hotel owner or investor. Alex is based at our London office.

Joseph has been largely involved within the capital markets and African hotel markets for Soric International. During this time Joseph has built a great understanding and experience of this hospitality market whilst also developing an extensive and diverse portfolio of clients. Throughout his time with Soric International Joseph has worked on brand and management sourcing and debt financing projects.

Senior Vice President - Africa
Piran has twenty years’ experience in real estate and hospitality and tourism development in West Africa. Piran couples expertise in the financial, legal, political and social sectors of the West African market with professional experience in project management and finance. Piran links substantive expertise to insightful strategies and consistently delivers superior results to the advantage of Soric International’s clients.
Piran is currently the lead on several major Soric projects in West Africa, including the finance and brand management of a five star hotel on Sal Island, Cape Verde. Piran is fluent in English, Portuguese and Krioulu.
His previous positions include CEO of Sotavento Consulting, Cape Verde. Here he oversaw the placement of over 7 million Euros in private capital in projects in Cape Verde. He also introduced strategic management partnerships between Viceroy Hotels and one of the largest resorts in Cape Verde and helped deliver over 30 million Euros in project finance through Afrexim Bank.

Mohammed Saeed Akhtar
Based in Dubai for the last 15 years with experience in hospitality and real estate acquisitions and well placed to advise those looking to invest in this region to support their specific strategic objectives at this key time in the investment hit cycle. Saeed also provides a bridge for high net worth individuals and Investment Funds in the Middle East who are looking to more mature hotel markets.

Senior Vice President - Turkey
Hakan completed a Business Administration degree at Bogazici University and completed his Masters degree in International Business from Maastricht University.
He began his career focusing on the financing of real estate projects in Amsterdam. After returning to Turkey, he has worked for global real estate investment and development companies, in Dubai Holding subsidiary Acacia Real Estate and Emaar Properties. Hakan played an active role at the foundation of BLG Capital, the first real estate private equity firm focusing solely in Turkish real estate.
Thereafter, he has held advisory board positions in Turkish real estate developers such as Amplio, DKY and Astay. Hakan has been involved extensively in numerous pioneer real estate projects in Turkey so far, some are Emaar Square, Republica Academic Aparts, Soho House Istanbul, Galataport, DKY ON and Four Seasons Bodrum. Hakan currently provides real estate development and management advisory in leading real estate projects in Turkey through his company HOM. He is a member of the Executive Committee of ULI (Urban Land Institute) Turkey and co-chairing ULI Next Turkey.
Senior Vice President Special Projects & Joint Ventures
Steve is Vice President of Special Projects and Joint Ventures at Soric. After reading law at Oxford University, Steve pursued a 26 year career as a real estate lawyer working in the city – including 12 years as a partner.
He has a wide range of transactional experience, having acted for pension funds, private equity houses, private individuals, overseas investors, charities, public bodies, health authorities, property companies, governments, developers, banks and hoteliers. In the last 10 years of his legal career he concentrated mainly on acquisitions and disposals and large corporate and hotel portfolio deals for overseas investors and institutions.
He has transacted over £2bn worth of deals encompassing the office, leisure, retail, healthcare residential and hotel sectors. He also has considerable experience in lettings, acting for both landlords and tenants in all sectors. Steve advised on the refinancing , acquisition and sale of numerous hotels and hotel portfolios in central London , the regions and Europe too by overseas investors from the Middle East, Asia and Scandinavia in particular . Notable recent deals include the refinancing of the Bulgari Hotel Knightsbridge and the financing of the L’Oscar hotel Holborn.
Steve has also worked with leading hotel companies on wellness strategies and programs – including Lanserhof, the Palm Hotel Dubai and the Ace hotel London. He is further qualified with The International Well Building Institute to give advice on turning buildings and hotels into healthy spaces and is part of the Global Wellness Institute Architecture panel.
Steve speaks and writes regularly for the Property and Hospitality press.
He gave an interview on Arabic TV on the implications of Brexit and has spoken at the Global Wellness Summit , the Boutique Hotel Lifestyle Summit, IHIF and the British Hospitality Summit.
